Basic Patient Rights

Following is a list of the Patient Rights included in the HIPAA Privacy Rule:

• The Right to request restrictions of disclosures
• The Right to access medical records
• The Right to request amendments to their medical records
• The Right to an accounting of how their PHI has been disclosed

The next few slides of this course will explain each of the new patient rights identified by the HIPAA Privacy Rule in more depth.
