Patient Rights

As discussed earlier in this course, the HIPAA Privacy Rule provides patients with rights regarding the control of how their health information is used and disclosed through the use of Consent and Authorization forms. However, the Privacy Rule grants patients with additional rights. These rights are intended to further enhance patients' understanding of how their PHI is managed, and empower patients to have more involvement in how their PHI is handled and protected. These additional rights will be discussed during this Module. |
